Privacy policy
The Cost Butcher LLC ("we", "us") runs thecostbutcher.com. This policy explains what we collect through this website, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
What we collect
- Spend Snapshot form: your name, business name, type of business, yearly sales range and email address.
- The Price Watch signup: your email address.
- Invoices you send for a Snapshot: the invoices and anything on them, such as vendor names, prices and quantities.
- Emails you send us: whatever you choose to include.
- Basic technical data: our hosting provider keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type and pages requested) to run and protect the site. We don't use advertising trackers.
How we use it
- To prepare and send your free Spend Snapshot and follow up about it.
- To send The Price Watch, if you signed up. Every issue has an unsubscribe link.
- To answer your questions and keep a record of our conversation.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We use software, including AI tools from third-party providers, to read invoices and draft reports. Those providers process your information only to provide their service to us.
What we never do
We don't sell your information or share your prices with other businesses. We don't show one business another business's prices or vendor terms.
Who processes it for us
We use a small set of service providers: Google Workspace (email and forms), Cloudflare (website hosting and security), and the AI and cloud providers that power our analysis. If you become a client, our Client Services Agreement covers your data in more detail.
How long we keep it
If you send invoices for a Snapshot and don't become a client, we delete them within 90 days of sending your Snapshot. We keep your contact details until you ask us to delete them or unsubscribe, and email records as long as needed for our business records.
Your choices
Email josh@thecostbutcher.com to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or to stop hearing from us. We'll respond within 30 days.
Children
This site is for businesses and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect their information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date.
